Independence Day in Memphis

Memphis is the city we chose to stay for Independence Day on the return part of our drive to my dad's place. We ate at a bar on Beale Street. Rode the trollies. Visited Mud Island, a museum dedicated to the Mississippi River and more. The skyline photo below depicts the angry but tiny thunderstorm that rolled in and eased the oppressive heat. Judging from the number of statues and photos, you would think Elvis founded the city or is its patron saint.
